Starting Photography

Langford’s Starting Photography is a hands-on book for those photographers just starting their love affair with photography. It equally suits shooters with entry and mid-priced level film and digital cameras, students at school or college using photography as part of art courses as well as those involved in other formal studies, such as the City & Guilds Certificate in Photography. The skills and knowledge presented in the book show you how to take and make great photographs using a highly visual step-by-step approach. Langford’s Starting Photography gently guides new photographers from tentative beginnings through wobbly first steps to a level where they can confidently create their own great pictures. The photographic examples scattered throughout the text are chosen to encourage and challenge the reader, as they are all within the technical capabilities of beginners with modest gear, such as compact or single lens reflex (SLR) cameras (preferably with manual controls), and the knowledge and skill provided within. Developers Guide To Web Application Security

To create a defense, you must try to understand where these attacks could originate, from whom, and why they would target you.Your systems and applications can be targeted or chosen randomly, so your defense strategy must be comprehensive and under constant evaluation. If you can test and evaluate your programs by emulating attacks, you will be more capable of finding vulnerabilities before an uninvited guest does so. Hackers range from inexperienced vandals—just showing off by defacing your site—to master hackers who will compromise your databases for possible financial gain. All of them may attain some kind of public infamy.
Throughout this book, you will be given development tools to assist you in hack proofing your Web applications. This book will give you a basic outline for approaches to secure site management, writing more secure code, implementing security plans, and helping you learn to think "like a hacker" to better protect your assets, which may include site availability, data privacy, data integrity, and site content. Excel As Your Database

Naturally, Microsoft Office Excel is designed to work well with facts and figures. However, Excel can do much more than just crunch numbers. For certain types of data, Excel is an ideal database management system. Excel is very good for entering, storing, and analyzing small amounts of data. Excel is also, of course, a less expensive alternative to larger computing- intensive database management systems designed for business and academic institutions to store sizable amounts of data. For those who don’t have the time or interest to study advanced data storage and data management techniques, Excel provides a much lower learning curve. Also, Excel provides data analysis features lacking in many more expensive database management systems.

The Nintendo Pocket Guide

What Makes the Wii Different?
The Wii is a departure from all of Nintendo’s other consoles in several respects: The controllers are wireless and motion sensitive - Although it’s small and not based on cuttingedge technology, the Wii gets the absolute maximum out of what Nintendo gave it - The Wii has built-in Internet connectivity - The Wii is backward compatible with GameCube games, giving GameCube owners an incentive to upgrade to the Wii. XSS Attacks

A few short months later in early 2006, JavaScript port scanners, intranet hacks, keystroke recorders, trojan horses, and browser history stealers arrived to make a lasting impression. Hundreds of XSS vulnerabilities were being disclosed in major Web sites and criminals began combining in phishing scams for an effective fraud cocktail. Unsurprising since according to WhiteHat Security more than 70 percent of Web sites are currently vulnerable. Mitre’s Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) project, a dictionary of publicly known vulnerabilities in commercial and open source software products, stated XSS had overtaken buffer overflows to become the number 1 most discovered vulnerability. XSS arguably stands as the most potentially devastating vulnerability facing information security and business online.Today, when audiences are asked if they’ve heard of XSS, the hands of nearly everyone will rise. Modeling Sructured Finance Cash Flows With Microsoft Excel

Many other financial modeling books explain either application functions or specific theoretical concepts. These books are good for learning a program or understanding an academic topic, yet they are difficult to translate into a functioning financial model. By combining specific application instruction with theory, this book teaches skills that can be applied instantly to professional level modeling. While the book focuses on structured finance analysis, the model created here can be adapted for use in other fields. A fundamental question is whether a cash flow model is the appropriate choice for the transaction under consideration. With cheap memory, powerful processors, and constant evolutions in financial analytics, a multitude of models are available ranging from real-time market value models to code-intensive Monte Carlo simulations. The cash flow model is primarily used for transactions that involve assets generating cash flow, which is applied against a set of liabilities. (Page 1)

Access 2007 VBA

As the title implies, this book is about using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to enhance the power of Access databases. If you want Access to print words on a check, skip mailing labels that you’ve already used, or manipulate data behind the scenes, you have to write VBA code. By the time you finish this book, you should know exactly what VBA is all about and how it fits into Access. You’ll discover the meanings of all those obscure terms that programmers throw around — code, variable, array, loop, object — as though they were common knowledge. You’ll be able to write and use your own, custom code, just like advanced programmers do.
